Weekend in the Desert

My family and I spent last weekend in the Phoenix area, soaking in the sun and warmth. A highlight for me was visiting the Japanese Friendship Garden. It was so beautiful and calming. I have lots of sketches from time spent at the garden and am working on a new card design using these drawings. I hope to have it up on my website in the next couple weeks!

On a walk through the desert, I came across this Saguaro right next to the trail. It was so iconic looking; I had to draw it. I think you could probably spend a lifetime drawing just Saguaros, they are all so beautifully unique and inspiring.

What are Little Moments you say? This is a once weekly newsletter that I hope is a small nudge or ounce of motivation for you to get outside and observe the natural world. It doesn't have to be grandiose, a small leaf on the ground, an interesting rock, anything you notice that you pay enough attention to casually sketch it or paint it in a journal. All the Little Moments add up to a life lived more observantly, grounded in the natural world.
